Examine the US Gaskets and Seals Market

12月 16th, 2008

Through 2012, the US market for href="http://www.shield-sealing.com/Sealing-Sheet-Gasket-c3.html">gaskets
and seals is expected to expand 2.7
percent per year (including price increases) to $8.7 billion, an improvement
over sales performance during the
1997-2007 period as a whole. Demand will be fueled by a rebound in motor vehicle
production, as well as by solid increases in machinery shipments and capital
spending. Rising demand for more expensive sealing products made from advanced
materials will also benefit gasket
and seal manufacturers. As is often
the case, however, increased use of better performing products will have a mixed
effect over time, as initial value gains will tend to be offset by longer useful
lives, decreasing aftermarket sales.

Expanded graphite href="http://www.shield-sealing.com/Exhaust-System-Gasket-c9.html">gaskets,
plastic href="http://www.shield-sealing.com/Cut-Gasket-Seal-Packing-c23.html">gaskets
and body href="http://www.shield-sealing.com/Expanded-Carbon-Graphite-Braided-Packing-c10.html">seals
will post the most rapid sales increases among individual products. Expanded
graphite and plastic href="http://www.shield-sealing.com/PTFE-Aramid-Fiber-Packing-c11.html">gaskets
will continue to supplant more traditional gasketing material because of their
improved performance characteristics, and both product types will benefit from
an improved motor vehicle industry outlook. Body seal demand will also be
spurred by a rebound in motor vehicle production, as well as by healthy
increases in aerospace equipment and construction machinery shipments.

Motor vehicle, machinery markets to offer strongest growth
opportunities

Aerospace demand for gaskets and href="http://www.shield-sealing.com/Graphite-Sheet-Seal-Packing-c18.html">seals
is forecast to grow the most rapidly of any major market through 2012. Growth
will be driven by increased spending on military aircraft due to the ongoing war
on terror and from rising civil aircraft production levels. Based on their much
larger size, the motor vehicle and machinery markets will provide greater sales
opportunities for gasket and seal makers than the faster growing aerospace
equipment market. Increases in motor vehicle production, as well as in the
number of motor vehicles in use, will support associated gasket and seal sales
advances. A move toward the use of higher-end sealing products in the motor
vehicle market will also contribute to future value gains. Continued growth in
capital spending and a large aftermarket created by harsh operating environments
will bolster machinery href="http://www.shield-sealing.com/Spiral-Wound-Gasket-Seal-Packing-c24.html">gasket
and seal demand. Original equipment manufacturing (OEM) applications account for
nearly two-thirds of all gasket and seal demand.

However, this ratio varies widely on an industry-by-industry basis.
In both aerospace and machinery applications, aftermarket demand was larger than
its OEM counterpart in 2007. In contrast, OEM demand made up just 28 percent of
all electric and electronic product gasket and seal demand in the same year.

Study coverage

This new industry study, Gaskets and href="http://www.shield-sealing.com/Non-asbestos-Jointing-Sheet-Seal-Packing-c20.html">Seals,
presents historical supply and demand data (1997, 2002 and 2007) plus forecasts
for 2012 and 2017 by product type (seal and packing, gasket) and market. In
addition, the study considers market environment factors, evaluates company
market share and profiles 33 competitors in the US industry.

Carbon & Graphite Packing

11月 20th, 2008

Carbon & Graphite Packing :

Carbon Fiber Packing
Carbon fiber packing is made from carbon fiber impregnated with PTFE dispersion. Braided into square cross-section and lubricated. Inert to almost all-corrosive chemicals. When used for pumps. Frictional heat is freely conducted to the stuffing box metal because of its excellent thermal conductivity. And thus does not cause damage to the packing.

Wide service range replace PTFE asbestos packing or PTFE blue asbestos packing.

It is to seal corrosive fluids except strong oxidizer acids, organic Solvents. Fluids where contamination is not permissible for centrifuge- al pumps. Plunger pumps. Mixers valves. Etc.

Graphite Packing
This revolutionary sealing product offers an innovative expanded pure graphite yarn. Braided into flexible packing. The combination of easy braided packing installation with the proven sealing capabilities of expanded pure graphite makes PQ-BI6 the most effective sealing solution available.

It can be used to seal hot water, high temperature and pressure steam. Heat transfer fluid, hydrogen gas, ammonia, organic solvents, hydrocarbons. Cryogenic liquids. etc. except fewer strong oxidizer. It is a unique and universal sealing packing.

Carburetor Rebuild Kit and Leaking Head Gasket

11月 19th, 2008

Question:

Hi, I was wondering why fuel is leaking out of my carburetor? When it is running it started as a drip at first and now it is leaking heavily. Would a carburetor kit fix that problem? And what comes in the kit?

Another question is, is it normal for oil to be in my radiator or is there a serious problem that needs attended to right away. i have a 1986 Ford Ranger pickup it has A 2.0 4 cylinder engine i barrel carburetor please help any help would be appreciated thanks.

Answer:

A rebuild kit may help, but the leak may be from a crack in the carb too. I would remove the carb, look for any broken or leaking gaskets. Sometimes there are plugs in the bottom of the carb which can come loose. Carb kits usually have gaskets, float, needle and seat. If you floats are leaking, or the seat is worn, it will cause a flooding condition and you will see fuel leaking.

Oil in the radiator, indicates a leaking head gasket. I would get it checked/fixed ASAP before it turns into more of a problem. A competent mechanic can do a compression test and check for a bad head gasket.

Exhaust Gasket

11月 17th, 2008

There are actually a total of FOUR Exhaust Gaskets on the Stock Exhaust Pipe, (Only three for a Staintune) however the most common ones that fail are the two at the Engine/Header pipe connection.

They are:

One on each (total of 2#) of the Exhaust manifold connections to the Cylinder Head, which look like this. This is a close-up of one of them. It is the Silver Ring, which is very soft (crushable) metal sandwiching a Gasket Material.
One (1#) where one of the Exhaust Manifold U-pipes meets the collector pipe (that goes to the other exhaust port in the cylinder head. This is a photo of where it goes Refer to Exhaust Pipe to Collector Gasket, below for details.
One (1) where the exhaust collector meets the exhaust pipe that goes to the muffler, just before the crossover pipe.

India look to seal series in Kotla

11月 2nd, 2008

New Delhi (PTI): With the Australians stripped off their cloak of invincibility and squirming in an unfamiliar rut, a domineering India sniff an opportunity to seal the four-match series at their happy hunting ground when the third Test gets underway here on Wednesday.

India’s thumping 320-run win in Mohali was a rude jolt to the Aussies, for whom, winning so far was just a matter of habit. It was the manner, and not merely the margin, of defeat in Mohali which punctured Australia’s aura of invincibility and suddenly the world champions looked as fragile as any other team.

In contrast, India’s brusque openers and the middle order batsmen have blunted the Australian attack with disdain while their brash leather-flingers ran through the Australian batting order like knife through butter.

Rattled by the Mohali mauling, Australia decided to take a couple of days’ off, purportedly for an introspection, and even though they believe the grey areas have been addressed and the mistakes would not recur, Ferozeshah Kotla’s tremendous bias towards the hosts is the sort of statistics, which is least likely to amuse the Aussies.

India have won the last seven Tests here in a row and the only time Australia managed to win here was way back in 1959 when Richie Benaud used to skipper the side. Mark Taylor embarked on a similar mission in 1996 but was sent packing within four days before a seven-wicket defeat was shoved down the visitors’ throat.
